Girls Bathroom Final

There's the beautiful princess tub that I looked for on Craigslist for over a year. That Harris almost didn't get because we got into an argument the morning he was to go get, that Madeline rescued from adult drama by quietly saying, 'but my princess tub...' with her head hung low making the adults feel pretty low.  It's been sitting, waiting upstairs, for two-ish years.   There was a gross shower here. Now it is gone forever and the tub will go there using existing plumbing.  Us checking out paint colors. We all mutually decided we liked a peachy pink color for the walls.   Harris getting rid of paneling after I got rid of the shower stall. Well, I unscrewed and unbolted everything so he could chuck it in the dumpster across the street. The last of the paneling is now gone from the house. I think. I'm sure I'll find another little bit here or there.  The tile arrived in August.  Harris built a partition wall...

Delays

Sometimes there are delays... The wire the electricians need will not arrive until later today (at the earliest) pushing the switch over from 2 100 amp boxes to 1 400 amp box until Monday Brad, Ed's apprentice in the plaster trade, hurt himself over the weekend, so wasn't able to work Monday or Tuesday. Luckily he was able to rejoin Ed today and they continue to prep walls upstairs.  We may get three bedrooms finished - we may get two bedrooms finished. Here's hoping for three. The tile for downstairs arrived and...it's going to be much more complicated to lay than we thought. Have two people giving estimates this week (hopefully) to do the work.  Still waiting to hear from the plumber if for some stupid reason them replacing the toilet (not changing anything other than the damn fixture) needs a building permit (it doesn't plumber. Get your head on right).  But I would like that bathroom finished ASAP thank you very much. We have many things that are at 50%...

Last week in June

Plaster drying on the stairwell and Ed putting the top coat on the walls. Bottom picture is detail work in the suite bathroom downstairs that Harris is finishing today.

Suite bathroom

Plaster repair should start again any day now! To get ready for that, Harris has been spending his mornings finishing the demo and lots of little projects here and there. The most important one so far is the suit bathroom downstairs which will give Madeline and me a proper bathtub again.   The floor joists were existing, but the layers of nasty plywood had to go. Harris also found and fixed a broken pipe while he was down there.     Putting the ceiling up. We're using tongue and groove wainscot boards for the ceiling in the suite bathroom.   Finished!  View from the doorway. We're going to use the leftover boards to make a boarder at the top. It will be the same height as the window casing/top moulding would have been were it still in place. Once the plaster has been finished here we can install the tile, tub, and toilet and have a beautiful bathroom downstairs.  Meanwhile...upstairs.... At some point they enclos...

Downstairs bathroom

Harris has been getting everything ready in the bathroom which means we need to find the tile we want in that bathroom.  Think this is the Hakati pattern we're going to go for, just need to confirm with Paul at Common Ground they can get this and it will work like we think.
