Walkway

We approach ten years together and three in the bunny manse. Those three years have been spent walking from car to house via a muddy little path. At some point I noticed the grass was always dead ~ sure sign of buried stuff- and started digging around uncovering four circular pavers and a hole where the fifth should be. But no more! Over chat Friday l says, hey, why don't we build a walkway, so we went to the despot and picked up supplies on Saturday while the elder was at a parents night out. We used the pavers that I literally bought 4-5 years ago off a neighbor who had extra. We moved them from one yard to another.  I know. Glamour. Little fever dream toddler wanted to play in the much a little.  Pop Pop came over and helped Madeline with her hustle.  When Harris got home, he added sand and leveled My job was to come up with the pattern. I laid out a couple on the cement walkway until I decided this one was best.  And we'll jus

Impromptu trip to Atlanta

My great aunt hazel died a week ago, so the girls and I took a quick trip to Atlanta, leaving Harris in Durham to recuperate from the snow days. While we eat rather healthy at home, I believe in unadulterated junk when traveling. It's almost shocking the amount of pizza my girls can contentedly eat. Durham has nothing on Atlanta for fun local business signs.  Sure - feed the baby frosted orange. Best to teach them young.  no. No. NO. WILL NOT WEAR THE HAT. Home again snuggle cuddled in mommy's bed.

Harry Potter and the seventh birthday

For her 7th, Madeline decided on a Harry Potter themed birthday - we remain about 60 pages from finishing Order of the Phoenix and well, I said ok. Last year the theme was Frozen, so we had plates, a pin the nose on Olaf, and Frozen Bingo. So. Yeah. How to do Harry Potter theme. I decided to make stations from Hogwarts. Prior to the party Harris and I made wands for each kid using knitting needles and chopsticks from The Scrap Exchange. We melted hot glue over the tops in different interesting patterns, then I painted them all brown and added colors to the tops. I also printed up signs that looked like educational decrees and plastered them around the house.  Herbology was full of wholesome snacks on one side of the table, while HoneyDukes filled the other side of the table with chocolate and candies. We had Transfiguration class by turning paper into animals, that was harder than expected - most kids made paper airplanes.   We took O.W.L.S. by writing down the flavors of jelly

Happy birthday darling
