gas leak 2015

While changing Margot's diaper in the middle of the night, Harris woke up and I asked him for some tea.  Upon returning with the tea he says, huh, the whole downstairs smells like gas. Quick call to PSNC and an hour wait later the service guy shows up. Checks every appliance and they are fine. Goes into the crawlspace and OH BOY there's a gas leak. Some section of pipe is bad and will have to be replaced. Our gas (and thus heat) were shut off around 4:30 this morning. We're currently waiting for the service tech repair guy to show up. Guess who has pipe insurance!!! Also, because it's that kind of day, the truck won't start. Editted to add - we now have heat again and a closed gas system. Can't wait to see what the bill is this month. Who knows what's wrong with the truck.

This will mean our boxes are unpacked - we're not constantly searching for things or tripping over things, and that we feel ok living here. There's some trim work, some sash work, and set up to do, but if we do a little each night we'll be finished with it all soon enough. we've been eating out a lot. When our...

Warm morning

Harris cleaned and created fire in our Warm Morning heater. Lucky for us the 65,000 BTU natural gas heater with thermostat and blower also comes with pilot lighting instructions.   We're both a little trepidatious when it comes to gas, but so far we're doing ok!
