Two pairs of new shorts, one grey one green. A pair of jeans, a pair of slacks or two. Underpants, lots of underpants. Socks: calf, ankle, cuff, black & white. Three button down shirts, two polos, two undershirts, five t shirts. A robe. New slippers. Monkey pants. Cozy pants. Exercise shorts: two pair. A hoodie.  Note cards, batman stamps, journal. Pictures of me, pictures of them. Rodger lion. A nice pen. Shampoo, soap, toothpaste. Floss. A razor, shaving cream. Nail clippers.

Then and Now

The wonderful Sara mailed our tax credit application in February and shared pictures she took the day we bought the house. Since April 2013 we spent at least $275,000 on demo, electrical, plumbing, asbestos, flooring, termites, exterior rot and damage, plaster repair, chimney repointing, new window sashes, installing a single kitchen, and a replacement slate roof. We sold two houses and a vacant lot in order to make this happen. Then we got a mortgage. Deep Breath. The front of the house When you first walk into the house... The stairway and windows I saw and fell in love with.  The view from the stairs. Notice the clear NO TRESPASSING sign taped above the fancywork. The room where Jazz was born sometime in the late 1990s. This is now our dining room. From the other side of the dining room. This floor was shot from termite damage.   This is a little room off a little hallway that we currently use as storage for the vaccum...

Snow!!!!!

Snow day at Oakwood Park...  The view from the beveled window out to the world all covered in snow   The view from my window when we woke up! Winter wonderland indeed!

Icepacolypse 2015

ByDeath toll =0 Near death toll= Harris, pipes, furnace Tuesday 2-17-15 = Ice storm Wednesday = Natalie gingerly walks to work after picking up breakfast at Scratch where the other three sit and enjoy their food. Madeline playing outside, Margot napping, Harris goes outside, slips on the back stairs, and hits his head- hard - on the concrete steps. He blacked out, forgot part of the morning and after Natalie got home, he was taken to the ER. No crack to the skull or brain bleed, but he's on brain rest (no screens, quiet, rest, lots of sleep) for a head injury just the same. Thursday = our lemon of a furnace is replaced. Coldest day in years, recording breaking really, and we have no heat downstairs while Harris is on brain rest upstairs. Girls leave the house for lunch and shopping. Natalie is sick, but not as sick as Harris. We wandered around the Trosa thirft store, southpoint mall, target...anywhere warm where the baby could be pushed in the stroller. I know we l...

love

We love our house. Sure, we need to fix more trim inside and have it painted and there are sections of the outside that we havent touched yet, but wow. How do we love that house. It's perfect for us. How amazing is it that we're able to live in a house we love that's perfect for us now and in 10 years and forever. Bunny Manse - we love you and are still excited about the rest of your transformation. Now to figure out what color to paint the trim inside...and get the downstairs furnace working properly...and put in the back doors...

Exterior in the morning

Yep. That's how much eastern light floods our house, you can't even see the new wood on the upstairs porch. These pictures just make me happy; I'm definitely a 'house should face east' kind of gal. The exterior carpentry will be totally done today. As of this afternoon - hell, maybe right now- there is no rotten wood on the outside.   Once we have more money...PAINT!         New slate up top, repointed chimneys, metal roof on the porch, chimney caps, wood rot fixed, chicken wire screens removed and gutters. Lots and lots of little things.

Color

It's swatched on the house and I like it!  Ignore the purple, that will be painted over with some trim colors soon.
