This will be our first year without a real garden in a long time. I'm thinking and plotting of what I want the overall garden to look like - where will fruit trees grow? Where will the honey bees live? Where will cut flowers thrive and where can we get to the kitchen vegetable and herb garden easiest. But all this planning means I don't get to plant little seeds or plants, or weed and water, or putter around in my shabby pajamas early Saturday mornings marveling at everything growing and thriving and loving the sunshine. Instead, I will oil my tools, make garden maps, decide which trees have to go (the weird bean pod tree shrubs, not the actual trees) try to get rid of the prickly pear and any remaining fire ants, and enjoy the one bed I have right behind the fence. The tulips should come up in another 3 weeks, when they are done, we'll plant any tuberoses that survived.
